TONY Smith is confident first-team coach Jimmy Lowes will have no problem stepping into the breach in his absence.

The Wolves boss switches into his other role as England head coach next week to focus on the national team’s preparations to face France in Paris on June 13.

It means Smith will be absent from The Halliwell Jones Stadium for next Sunday’s game against Bradford Bulls and throughout the build-up to the match, taking forwards Adrian Morley and Ben Westwood with him, after both were selected in his squad for the game.

But Smith insists there will be a seamless transition when he hands over the reins to Lowes and is happy to give his number two a chance to shine against his former club.

He said: “Managing the two roles is not a problem.

“For the week I’m away, Jimmy runs the show here, which is fine because he’s done it before and he’ll do it again.

“My main focus is Warrington but I’m looking forward to doing the England stuff and I’m looking forward to giving Jimmy the chance to take charge of club matters.

“Everything is flowing pretty well at the moment so Jimmy will be able to step in and keep things going.”

Morley and Westwood both earned call-ups to Smith’s 19-man England squad after a string of impressive performances in recent weeks.

Perhaps surprisingly though, teammate Garreth Carvell is omitted, despite being widely tipped for selection.

Another Wolves forward, hooker Mickey Higham, also misses out, despite featuring for his country in last year’s World Cup.

Sam Burgess is the only Bradford player called up for the Paris clash, which takes place a day before his team travel to The Halliwell Jones Stadium in Super League.
