FORMER Wigan and Widnes prop forward Barrie McDermott, an ambassador for Carnegie, previews Warrington Wolves' clash with Hull Kingston Rovers.

The match:

Hull KR v Warrington Wolves

Craven Park, Saturday, kick off 5.30pm, live on BBC 2

The facts:

This will be Warrington’s seventh Challenge Cup trip to Hull KR and they have yet to win on their travels. But they had a 29-28 engage Super League win there only last season. This season Warrington won 24-12 at home and lost 36-28 at the Magic Weekend in Edinburgh. Three years ago Rovers gained one of their most famous cup victories when, as a non-Super League club, they won 40-36 in a sixth round home tie. Four Rovers players are looking for a repeat performance -Scott Murrell, Ben Fisher, Makali Aizue and Jason Netherton. Five of that Warrington 17 are in line to face Rovers on Saturday - Chris Bridge, Jon Clarke, Simon Grix, Ben Westwood, Paul Wood.

Barrie says:

Some observers might say that Hull KR are defying the odds, but at the beginning of the season I looked at their side and realised they’ve got some fantastic players and are very well drilled. Some teams have one or two players that are underrated, yet do a good job for the team. Hull KR have half a dozen players that just get on with the job and go under the radar -Scott Murrell typifies that spirit. Justin Morgan is a fantastic coach and you only have to listen to him speak to know that he is a clear and concise communicator and his team obviously understand what he wants them to do. Warrington are a team in transition and they are gradually shedding their skin – their skin being the way they used to play with no patience. Although they’ve always had good players and have been able to score tries, I don’t think they’ve ever been structured. The current coach will demand that structure – and has been to the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final before. Adrian Morley, Richie Mathers and Garreth Carvell, along with others have tasted big games before and they will need that experience to rub off on their team mates on Saturday

Barrie’s prediction:

Hull KR will win this one, it could be by 4 points or by 24 - Hull KR remain my dark horses for this competition.
