TWO junior members took first and second place in Fiddlers Ferry Sailing Club’s Meacock Trophy on Sunday.
Reece Tomlinson narrowly beat his fellow laser sailor Alan Dodd to secure a junior one, two for the first time.
Ten boats started the race and, with the wind coming and going, setting sails proved difficult for all the fleet.
The two Lasers made the early running to the first mark and that proved to be the situation for the whole race, with the other eight boats chasing hard but unable to cut their lead.
Falcon Hobby Four, helmed by Tony Tomlinson, led the chasing pack home but he failed to hold third spot on handicap to Harris Hawk Falcon 64 after running one crew light.
All the fleet completed the course in less than 100 minutes, with the third-placed boat finishing 11 minutes behind the first two boats.
