WARRINGTON under 15s schoolboys won the north west Alder Owen Trophy after an extremely hard-fought final against Liverpool.
After a tense and tight early period, Warrington’s midfield of Hibbert, Gratton and Robinson took control and drove the team forward as they looked to be the first Warrington team to lift this prestigious trophy.
The breakthrough came early in the second half as Tom Percival seized on a poor clearance from Liverpool’s goalkeeper.
As the game progressed, Liverpool desperately brought on extra attackers but Warrington’s defence stood firm.
This cup success brings to an end a two-year adventure for the squad, who have represented their town with pride and commitment and been crowned Cheshire champions, north west champions and finalists in the National Cup.
