WARRINGTON Athletics Club’s young team members travelled to Litherland for their second match in the Northern Premier Division and finished in an excellent second place behind Leeds City.

In the men’s events top performance of the day came from Jack Gleave in the under 15s boys 400 metres where he recorded a grade one time to take the club male athlete of the match just ahead of James Gladman in the under 17s men’s 100 metres hurdles and Ashley Kirsopp in the under 13s boys 75 metres hurdles whom also recorded grade one times.

In the women’s events Carys McAulay in the under 13s girls 1200 metres recording a grade one time which also destroyed the club record for the event to win the female club athlete of the match.

The result of the match puts the team in 10th place in the league but with sixth to 10th places all having six points the places are decided on the total points scored in the matches.

The next match takes place on May 31 and is a home match for Warrington, being held at Victoria Park.
