RYLANDS lost by 60 runs against The Groves in Cheshire Alliance Division One on Saturday.

Adam Peters bowled well to take 4 for 39 as The Groves totalled 133 for 9.

In reply captain Ian Mason made a patient 32 to get Rylands to 69 for 3 but then a disastrous slump of seven wickets for a further four runs saw Rylands bowled out for 73.

Rylands’ second XI entertained Wirral’s thirds at Gorsey Lane and a fine display by teenager Kenny Jarvis saw Rylands to a comfortable 86-run victory.

Jarvis, 55, and big hitting Ste Howarth, 65, helped Rylands amass 183 for 9 .

Jarvis and the wily Bond Bateson then took four wickets each as Wirral collapsed to 97 all out.

Rylands’ under 18s lost their first match of the season against Moorfield.

The team’s 88 for 8 from 20 overs never looked big enough, with Moorfield reaching their target for the loss of seven wickets.

Mark Green was the pick of the Rylands bowlers with 3 for 11.

Rylands’ under 15s won their Cheshire County League match at Timperley by seven wickets on Sunday.

Sam Mulholland, 36 not out, saw Rylands home as they chased Timperley’s 90 all out.

Rylands’ under 13s suffered a 33-run defeat at home to Grappenhall.

Grappers’ 101 for 6 proved too much for Rylands to chase, but Joe Threadgold, 30 retired, shone in Rylands’ 68 all out.
