GLAZEBURY’S second XI collected a maximum 25 points with a thumping victory over Eastham’s first team at Wirral.

Wayne Hargreaves’ side lost both openers cheaply, leaving a lot of responsibility on the younger element further down the order.

But it was a challenge the visitors were more than equipped for as they ground their way to 179 for 8.

Dave Acton, 28, and Dean Lord, 20, started the recovery, while Jason Butterworth played impressively for his 21 before being run out. Paul Charlton also grafted for 22 and Dave Nicholson added 18.

Young spinner Mike Nutkins topped the scoring with a brilliant 32.

Then a double breakthrough by paceman Chris Ayre set the tone for the rest of the game.

Paul Charlton put Glazebury completely in the ascendancy with 4 for 9 from his six overs.

Two wickets each for Butterworth and Julian May completed left Eastham all out for 71.
