APPLETON Cricket Club’s fourth string did not set a big enough target against a tight Frodsham bowling attack and enthusiastic fielders.
Opener Stuart McIntosh scored 37 and the top scorer was John Ormson, who tweaked a hamstring during his innings of 47 before Appleton ended on 117.
Appleton showed they were no whipping boys as Aamir Rashid’s 4 for 40 form 19.2 overs and Roger Cawthorne’s 5 for 58 from 16 pushed Frodsham to the limit before losing out by one wicket with less than four overs left.
