FRIDAY can’t come soon enough.

We’re all looking forward to the game against Wigan because it’s this kind of game that you live for.

Not only is it a big derby but, for me, it’s a chance to take on my old teammates, which gives it that little bit of extra spice.

I enjoyed my time at Wigan and I have some good memories from my spell there but I’m really enjoying it at Warrington and I’d love nothing better than to get one over on them tomorrow.

The banter’s been going strong with my old teammates. Feka Paleaaesina text me and we’ve got an agreement, I’m not going to go anywhere near him and he’s not going to come anywhere near me. But that probably works out better for me than it does for him!

We’ll also be facing Glees for the first time since his move to Wigan so that should be interesting.

I’m not sure what kind of reception he’ll get but I’m going to get in there and try to wind him up and I’m sure he’ll be keen to get one over on us.

So, all considered, it’s a massive game, especially as we can draw level on points with them if we win tomorrow and that is so important to us as we try to claw our way into the top eight.

Last Saturday’s win at Hull was pretty pleasing because it was probably very un-Warrington like.

In the past, this club has gained a reputation as a team who like to throw the ball around, who score points but have trouble defending but I think we’re starting to shed that image now.

Our defence against Hull was superb. During the first half we were well off the pace and our game was full of dropped ball, missed tackles and penalties. But still, Hull’s two tries came within the first 15 minutes and both while Gaz Carvell was in the sin bin.

Otherwise, we were solid, even late on when they were desperately searching for a winning score and we committed a couple of errors near our own line.

It was an ugly win and although that doesn’t sound good, it was really pleasing. It’s a sign of a good team when you can grind out a win without playing well and that’s exactly what we did against Hull.

You have to have good defence to win championships, it’s absolutely vital. While nobody here is getting carried away, I feel we are making slow progress towards becoming a top side.

On a personal level, I was really pleased with my performance against Hull because I was back to making those bursts from dummy half, running at defenders and creating gaps.

After being in the starting line-up at the beginning of the season, I’ve now reverted to my old role of coming off the bench when defences start to get tired.

I won’t lie, you always want to start games but I’ve been enjoying my rugby and I like playing alongside Jon Clarke.

I think we work well in combination too because Clarkey can move to 13 or play in the halves when I come on and we’re both capable of playing at dummy half so it gives us options.

It’s an example of the adaptability and teamwork we’re starting to develop and hopefully that can bring us a win tomorrow!
