GRAPPENHALL over 40s fell short against a strong Nantwich side that included two of the Cheshire County League Premier Division Club’s first-teamers.
With the game reduced to 18 overs per side, Nantwich rattled up 162 for 6, with first-team skipper Newton top scorer after retiring on 33.
M Critchley was best with the ball for Grappers, taking 2 for 24.
In reply, Grappers got off to a positive start, with Nicholson and Green taking 20 off the first three overs.
But they were hampered by M Roberts being unable to bat after pulling a muscle while fielding.
M Moss again struck some fierce blows in his 21 runs, while M Critchley retired on 30 as Grappers finished well short of their target at 114 for 7.
