WARRINGTON’S third XI destroyed Neston.

Warrington put Neston into bat on a damp wicket and, after a difficult start, Charlton returned with 4 for 63 and Corroboy 3 for 27 as Neston were bowled out for 159.

A fine opening stand of 162 saw Warrington home thanks to impressive innings by Tim Rothwell, 85 not out, and Mike Lindop, 68 not out.

A much-changed Warrington fourth string, featuring an influx of young players, lost by eight wickets at Neston.

Warrington were bowled out for 67 with Billy Gilbert being the only batsman to reach double figures.

T Diakin bowled well, giving away only four runs from five overs, while Peter Rydzkowski, with 2 for 121, was the most successful bowler.
