GLAZEBURY'S second XI achieved 14 points in a draw at Offerton.

An opening partnership of 51 laid the foundations for a solid batting effort with Sean Caine, 28, doing a lot of the spade work.

Further contributions from youngsters Mike Nutkins, 20, Jason Butterworth, 30, and Gary Ayre, 20, helped get the visitors’ score up to 174 for 6 after 48 overs.

Offerton’s reply was checked as Dave Nicholson removed the top four batsmen to leave the hosts 30 for 4 but a watchful stand of 57 for the next wicket frustrated Glazebury’s attempts to force a win and the innings petered out to 105 for 7.

Glazebury’s second team were in action again the following day, losing at Sandbach in the Cheshire Alliance Cup.

With a number of enforced changes to the side, Glazebury could make only 106 with the bat.

John Acton, Nicholson and Liam Caine were the only players to make double figures.

The visitors’ attack responded well and did manage to take five wickets before eventually going down to defeat.

Paul Charlton was the most successful bowler with 2 for 21.
