WARRINGTON Wizards will be looking to end a run of four straight defeats when they entertain East Lancashire Lions in the Co-operative Rugby League Conference National on Saturday.

Player/coach Alan Kilshaw is upbeat ahead of the game at Wilderspool, kick off 3.30pm, despite the run of poor results and insists that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

He said: “We are having to do it tough at the minute. We are busted up physically, have a few bumps and bruises to key players and it has obviously affected us but we are hoping to get them healthy this week and back on the field.

“At Huddersfield we showed in patches what we are capable off but yet again luck wasn’t with us and losing three players to bad injuries at key stages of the game had a massive influence on how we finished.”

“We will be stronger for what we have been through and will look to put in a better performance at home this coming Saturday and start to climb the table.

“The group of players are not panicking and everyone is positive and prepared to work hard this week.

“The guys that have come in over the past few weeks have really given their all, you cannot fault any of them for the effort they have put in.

“Special mention must go to teenagers Scott Cullen, 16, Adam Gorman, 17, and Hayden James, 18.

“Ideally we would like to use these guys sparingly but our hands have been tied with the injuries we have suffered and they have all risen to the challenge and punched well above their weight.”

For Saturday’s game Kilshaw will hope to have forwards Scott Davidson, Matt Clarke, Alan Reddecliff and Lee Rushton available, along with winger Stuart Pirrie after they all missed the game at Huddersfield.

But Shaun Gilmour and Darren Forshaw are unlikely to feature after picking up injuries in that match.
