Huddersfield Underbank Rangers 42 Warrington Wizards 14

WIZARDS suffered their fourth consecutive defeat when they went down at Huddersfield Underbank Rangers.

A much-changed team put in plenty of effort against an in-form Underbank side but a lack of experience told as the home side consolidated their position in the top four.

After a fairly even opening, Underbank scored on 13 minutes through Chris Thorley. He added the conversion himself before a penalty goal from Warren Ayres got Wizards off the mark.

Huddersfield responded when centre Shaun Mitchell scored wide on the left, followed by a Gary Keegan try between the posts, converted by Thorley.

Joe Worthington pounced on a loose ball to score, Thorley converting, before Wizards gave themselves a lifeline when winger Scott Lyon used his strength to score in the corner.

Wizards were rewarded for a strong start to the second half when Kilshaw’s inside ball allowed loose forward Matt Wilson to power over.

Huddersfield regained the initiative when Tom Senior scored before Wizards once again gave themselves hope when a superb long ball from Ayres sent in Adam Gorman.

But the home side then proceeded to put the game out of the Wizards reach through tries from Will Midgley, Keegan and substitute Napoleoni Vinaka.

Best for the Wizards were second row Shaun Gilmour, loose forward Matt Wilson and centre Tom Bradbury.
