A HOSTILE spell by opening bowler Sean Malone set Rylands on the road to a Cheshire Alliance Division One success against Knutsford on Saturday.
Malone, who took 9 for 18, helped reduce the home side to 49 all out.
In reply, Rylands also struggled on the sluggish wicket but youngster Jack Knowles, 17 not out, led the team to a five-wicket victory.
The following day Rylands’ second XI fell three runs short of their target as they went out of the Cheshire Cup at Stalybridge, who posted 155 for 9 off 40 overs, Kenny Jarvis was the pick of the Rylands bowlers with 5 for 19.
Opening bat Duncan Chriscoli made a gutsy 42 to lead the chase but wickets tumbled as the run rate crept up.
In a dramatic finish Rylands finished on 153 for 8.
