Rylands Sharks 38 Shaw Cross 12 RYLANDS Sharks under 14s sealed back-to-back treble-winning seasons after clinching the BARLA National Cup on Monday.

A comfortable 38-12 win against Shaw Cross under 14s at The Willows, Salford completed the remarkable feat.

Shaw Cross actually started the better of the two teams, scoring an early try when their outstanding full-back ran the length of the pitch to touch down between the sticks.

But Rylands quickly hit back through Lewis Charnock and Ryan Mercer, Charnock adding two excellent conversions to give his side a 12-6 interval lead.

A shock came straight from kick off at the start of the second half, as Shaw Cross scored to level things up.

That seemed to kickstart Rylands into action and Sharks started to express themselves, showing great confidence in each other and playing like true champions.

Tries from Charnock, Lewis O’Dea, Josh Mercer and Matt Wood completed an exceptional second half performance that had the crowd mesmerised with the quality of their play.

Charnock kicked seven goals to add to his two tries and was named man of the match for his efforts.

Blackbrook u10 18 Rylands Sharks u10 28 TWO solid sides battled it out with Rylands’ advantage against the big Blackbrook side proving to be their kicking ability. Both teams showed grit and determination pushing the other’s defence to the limit.

Tries were scored by Kieran Evans, three, Casey Brown, Danny Walker. All three of these were also goal scorers, as well as Fyn Stannley. Player of the match was Kieran Evans, top tackler was Bradley McAlpine, and team player Bradley Sleigh.

Rylands Sharks u8 30 Wigan St. Judes u8 0 Rylands travelled to Wigan in great spirit and came away with a fantastic win against a developing St Jude’s side.

Tries were scored by Jack Ryder, three, Oliver Livett, two, James Ford, Liam Brinksman, Riley Jordan and James Lappin.

Player of the match was Liam Brinksman, top tackler Jack Ryder and most improved player James Ford.

Crosfields u8 40 Westhoughton u8 12 Tries were scored by Marcus Grady, who was the joint coach's award winner with Kyle Webster, Andrew Jobling, James Geraghty, Louis Rosslyn, two, player of the match Lewis Timperley, top tacklers Lewis Hall and Spencer Williams-Rudd, Brechan Stephenson, and players’ player George Jerram. The most improved player award went to Louis Beaumont.
