WARRINGTON Schoolboys under 15s team will contest the English Schools FA Inter-Association Trophy Final with Stockport on Monday.

They the first Cheshire-based teams to reach the final since 1948, while no Warrington side has reached the last stage of the competition before.

The game is to be played at Stockport County’s home ground, Edgeley Park, at 7pm and a bumper ‘gate’ is expected.

Stockport officials are estimating they will have home support of between 3,000 to 5,000 fans.

With the Warrington boys bidding to make footballing history for the town, they would welcome anyone being able to offer their support.

The team have been together for two seasons and are the current Cheshire champions.

Their successs has been built on a strong uncompromising defence aligned with a powerful and skilful midfield that is complemented by a hard-working and clinical clinical strike force.

Warrington booked their place in the final with a hard-fought 2-1 win against Barnet.

A total of 167 teams entered the competition and in earlier rounds they knocked out Rossendale, St Helens, Manchester, Leeds and Stockton-on-Tees.

The players represent Great Sankey (eight players), Culcheth, St Gregorys, Bridgewater, Beamont and Penketh High Schools.

Six of the boys have been in the representative team since under 11s level, while nine of them have played together with Cromwell Athletic since a young age.
