JAMES Gladman has destroyed the Warrington Athletics Club record in the 100m hurdles.

The new best of 13.2secs, ending former international Neal Petley’s 25-year record, came in an under 17s race at an open meeting staged by Macclesfield Harriers.

Gladman’s time puts him in first place in the UK rankings for the event.

His performance was one of six personal best times recorded by Warrington athletes in Macclesfield.

In the under 13s boys’ age group, Daniel Richardson improved his times in the 100m and 200m to 13.8secs and 29.2secs.

James Sutton, in the under 17 men’s 100m, improved to 11.6secs, while English Schools junior 800m champion Sam Dykes reduced his 400m best to 52.2secs in the same age group.

In the under 15s girls’ 200m, Sam’s sister Charlotte improved to 28.2secs and, in the under 17s women’s 80m hurdles, Sarah Lewis recorded a season’s best time of 12.6secs, missing her personal best by one tenth of a second.
