DAN Cliffe stormed to a third Whitley 10k win in a row.
He set out over an undulating course on a very warm day at a strong pace and by the 1k mark had opened up a good distance to training partner Liam Thompson.
Cliffe’s finishing time was an excellent 31 mins 43 secs, taking half a minute from his 2008 winning time and putting himself in good shape for the summer season.
In second place, Thompson ran a strong 33mins 28secs and looks to be approaching his December form again.
Paul Dodsworth placed fifth in 35mins 19secs, Tim Bedford was sixth in 33mins 35secs and Paul Hicken set a new personal best of 36mins 15secs in eighth place.
Graham Green took 21st place in 38mins 2secs and Mervyn Ward ran a steady race, finishing with 38mins 34secs for 25th position.
In the women’s race, Louisa Wood set a new personal best with an excellent 36mins 36secs as she dominated the race, finishing well ahead of her nearest competitor.
