WARRINGTON Rowing Club started the racing season at the annual Merseyside Regatta run by Liverpool Victoria Rowing Club at the West Float, Wallasey, over a 500m dock-side course.
The club sent 16 junior crews, including five at 13-years level who are just starting their racing careers, and returned with five gold medals, as well as seven second places and three third-place finishes in ideal rowing and spectating conditions.
Gold medal crews were:
* Women’s Junior 13 coxed quad sculls: Amy Maddison, Samantha Wernham, Deanna Wooler, Hannah Whiteley, cox Thomas Glover.
* Women’s Junior 13 single scull: Holly McMullen.
* Women’s Junior 14 double scull: Holly McMullen, Claudia Wright.
* Women’s Junior 14 coxed quad scull: Susie Clark, Daisy Dell, Hannah Lester, Claudia Wright, cox Sophie McQuillian.
* Mixed Junior 16 coxed quad sculls: Alison Bailey, Emily Clark, Tom Leather, Ed Sims, cox Beth Pickering
