Warrington u13 39 Manchester u13 0

WARRINGTON Rugby Union Club’s under 13s finished their season off in style.

They became the first team in the 90-year history of the club to win the Lancashire Cup, defeating Manchester 39-0 in the final.

Dan Abram scored the first of his two tries after only five minutes, taking a lovely pass off the outstanding Joe Wilson.

John Morris also scored in the first half.

In the second half Manchester did threaten the Warrington line briefly but the defence held firm.

Through the second half Warrington’s fitness started to show and further tries came from Earl Russell, Joel Barker and Christian Tighe, with the prop forward picking the ball up in his own half and outstripping the Manchester defence.

This was the first time any Warrington Rugby Union side had won a Lancashire Cup in their 90-year history.

Although a joyous day for the club, there was a touch of sadness as long-serving outside centre, Sam Roberts, played his last game for the club before emigrating to Australia.
