LYMM Rugby Club have a new chairman.

John Hopkinson has resigned after four yours in the role, with Danny McNicholl elected in the position at the recent annual meeting to take the club through its 50th birthday year and beyond.

McNicholl said: “John’s work as chairman saw the membership of the club rise from around 150 to more than 600.

“He deserves a huge vote of thanks for this legacy and all his work during his chairmanship.

“My aim is to continue the development of Lymm RFC so that it becomes the best amateur rugby club in the universe.”

McNicholl said the club is seeking more voluntary help.

“As we enter the jubilee season I urge people to volunteer,” he said.

“The club cannot prosper without the help of volunteers and specific help is wanted for fund-raising events, sponsorship and the social side.”
