LYMM under nines clinched back-to-back festival successes after winning the Rochdale Festival on Sunday.

It was Lymm’s sixth festival success of the campaign and they did not concede a single try throughout, while playing some excellent passing rugby.

They beat Aldwinians 9-0, Sedgley Park 12-0 and Liverpool Collegiate 6-0 to win Group C and defeated Warrington 5-0 in the semi final before claiming a 7-0 win against hosts Rochdale in the final.

Lymm finish their season this weekend, when they aim to defend their trophy at the Abergavenny Festival.

Meanwhile, Lymm under 11s were agonisingly beaten in extra time in the final of the Rochdale Mini Rugby Tournament.

They made it comfortably through the early stages, beating Tyldesley 2-0 and Littleborough 5-0 before drawing 1-1 with Liverpool Collegiate.

A 1-1 draw against York sent Lymm through to the final on the toss of coin after extra time.

But Lymm finished runners-up after losing 2-1 to Fylde.

Matt Barker, Paddy Jennings, Johnny Eagle, Ross Walker and James Norcott, Aidan Ferrie scored Lymm’s tournament tries.
