A HEART-STOPPING finish in Sunday’s Premier League clash ended with Warrington launching their women’s team on the right note.

Too many batsmen went out to bad deliveries and too many were dismissed after getting a start but Warrington still ground out a victory.

First, Warrington struggled to 46 for 3 and then an extraordinary 14-ball over that produced 17 runs swung the pendulum Warrington’s way at 80 for 3.

The game looked to have slipped away when Warrington’s middle order collapsed to 109 for 7, only for bowlers Natalie Heap, Kate Skelhorn and Kate Harvey to see them over the line.

Heap, finishing with Premier League career best figures of 3 for 39, took the wickets of two Sheffield high scorers in one over, with Lorna Thomas taking 3 for 21.
