WARRIORS of Warrington Swimming Club finished sixth in their first national final for 14 years.

Competing in the National Swimming League B Final at Ponds Forge International Pool in Sheffield on Sunday, the club achieved six first places, six second and four third places during the 50-event programme.

There were individual wins for Scott Hathaway in the men’s 200m backstroke and Adam Ravenscroft in the 10 to 11-year-old 50m breaststroke.

Ravenscroft’s swim broke a five-year-old meet record and he was named top 10 to 11-year-old boy of the meet for this swim.

He was also part of the victorious 10 to 11-year-old 50m freestyle team, alongside teammates Bradley Harrison, James Ross and David Richardson.

The boys’ 10 to 11-year-old medley team of David Richardson, Andrew Mclay, Oliver Houghton and James Ross were also victorious, achieving vital first-place points.

In the individual 10 to 11-year-old boys’ events, James Ross finished second in the 50m freestyle and Oliver Houghton was third in the 50m butterfly.

The girls’ 13 years and under 50m medley team, Rebecca Pye, Caitlin McNicholas, Aimee Harvey and Catherine Parker, won their event.

In individual events, McNicholas went on to gain second place in the 100m breaststroke, Harvey second in the 100m butterfly and Pye third in the 100m backstroke.

There was a third-place finish for the boys’ 13-year-old medley team of Michael Ross, Andrew Mclay, Brendan Spencer and Ewan Miller. Spencer was also third in his 100m freestyle swim.

Scott Hathaway, Tim Almond, Ben Hutchinson, and Andy Bushell won the men’s 50m medley, while Almond also achieved second place in the 100m breaststroke and Hathaway third in the 200m individual medley.

In the women’s 100m freestyle, Aisha Thornton came second with only 0.39 seconds between first and fourth place. Thornton also swam a national qualifying time in the 200m individual medley.
