Moore United 2 Warrington Town Reserves 1

MOORE United came from behind to win their ‘derby’ clash with Warrington Town Reserves and keep Cheshire Soccer League Division Two promotion hopes alive.

Despite making three changes from their previous game in a bid to freshen up the side, Moore were caught cold after only 20 seconds when the visitors capitalised on defensive uncertainty to score.

The Moore management took bold steps at half time, switching to a 3-4-3 formation in an attempt to put the Town defence under immense pressure.

Moore received a warning when the visitors nearly closed the game off.

But, as the half wore on, the hosts took control of the game and a good passing move involving Shaw and Scott Taylor allowed Dave Cunningham to slot home into the far corner to level things up.

Lee Burton had a penalty shout denied when he was clean through on Moore keeper Perry and hit the woodwork as time went on.

But Taylor clinched victory for Moore when he received the ball with his back to goal and brought it down on the turn to fire past the Town keeper.

Town quickly changed to all-out attack but Moore soaked up their pressure at the back.
