WOLVES will be looking to re-discover the comforts of home as they welcome Huddersfield Giants to The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday.

The best moment of the club’s season so far has come on the road, the players recovering from two consecutive defeats to hammer Bradford 58-22 at Odsal on Friday.

After a miserable Easter weekend and a difficult start to the current campaign, first-team coach Jimmy Lowes admitted it was probably easier for Wolves to play away from home, away from the glare of their own supporters.

Against Bradford they played like a team that had finally had a great burden lifted off their shoulders, displaying newfound confidence and adventure.

But now Lowes says it is essential for the team to reach the same levels of performance on Sunday, both to reward the home fans and to get their season back on track.

He said: “Sometimes when things aren’t going well, it’s a lot easier to play away from home.

“We need to add to what we did last week.

“It’s a different challenge this week but we have to continue onwards and upwards.

“We’ve taken a step forward I think. We’ve seen what we are capable of doing.

“It’s given the lads a big boost. They’ve all been happy at training, which they would be, but we’ve got one of the early form teams in Super League coming up so we know the challenge ahead and we’re getting ready for it.

“Hudedersfield have got a big pack, they’re as big as anybody I think, and they’re playing with a lot of confidence within that as well.

“It’s a challenge for us here, it’s a challenge for us anywhere against a team with a lot of confidence.

“I’m sure our boys are going to relish that as well so it should be a good encounter up front.”
