PAUL Wood is hoping to secure a testimonial at Wolves next year after committing his future to the club this week.

This is Wood’s 10th year at Warrington after coming through the club’s academy following a successful amateur career with Ince St Williams.

Since making his debut for the club against Wakefield in 2000 aged 18, the mobile prop forward has stayed with Wolves through thick and thin, making 197 first-team appearances.

Despite suffering with persistent injuries throughout the past two years, the 27-year-old has regained his form this season, becoming a consistent performer off the bench.

And after signing a contract extension until the end of 2010, Wood says there was never any chance he would leave Warrington and is eyeing a testimonial next year.

He said: “I like it at Warrington and I want to win something with Warrington.

“I don’t want to jump ship and then Warrington win something after putting in 10 years.

“It’s a bit corny really but this is like a second home to me. Although I’m a Wigan lad I’m very fond of Warrington, the people that are here and the fans, the support they show.

“I don’t want to move, I’m settled at Warrington.

“I’ve been here 10 years so hopefully I can have a testimonial. With my contract being up I wanted to concentrate on my rugby this year but hopefully I’ll get my chance next season to have a testimonial.

“It’s been a tough 10 years. When I think back to my time here, the tough games played at Wilderspool and some of the tough games we’ve had at The Halliwell Jones, I don’t know how it’s lasted so long.

“I enjoy it. All rugby league players enjoy rugby league and I play the sport because I like the physical side of it, so I don’t know how I’ve lasted.

“But I’ve loved every minute of it.”
