WARRINGTON rugby union team progressed to the semi finals of the Lancashire Plate after a home win against a spirited Tarleton side.

Warrington will meet Ormskirk or Hutton in the last four.

Matt Rockey was Saturday’s hero, scoring four tries and converted one penalty, while Neil Sullivan converted the final try.

Warrington played an expansive game after their forwards set up decent ball from set pieces.

The gave a debut to the talented and promising young centre Keiran Hughes, who played alongside his brother Sean who bossed well at scrum half.

There was also a first-team debut for strong prop forward Chris Higham.

Warrington play their final league game on Saturday when they travel to Ruskin Park.

Stewart Coleman’s team have already been promoted and, if results go in their favour, they could win the title on Saturday.
