Warrington Wizards 18 Bramley Buffaloes 36

A GOOD encounter between two quality sides went the way of Bramley Buffaloes in the Co-operative Rugby League Conference National on Saturday.

Bramley controlled the first half, capitalising on some Warrington Wizards indiscipline.

But Alan Kilshaw’s men fired back early in the second half before Buffaloes assumed control once again and ran out victors by a flattering margin.

Kilshaw said: “I cannot fault the effort of the players but we were indisciplined with and without the ball.

“We came up with too many dumb plays at the wrong times, putting ourselves under needless pressure which meant that we had to defend for long periods and it eventually took its toll in the final quarter.

“We will fix our problems on the training field over the next few weeks and come back stronger.”

Wizards, who have a week off before travelling to league newcomers Nottingham Outlaws on April 25, fell 10-0 behind in the first half.

Wizards got back into the game five minutes into the second half with tries from Matt Clarke and Scott Davidson, one of which was converted by Warren Ayres.

Wizards had stand off Billy Sheen sin binned for dissent on 55 minutes but took the lead when Ayres landed a penalty.

Bramley hit back with a converted try and penalty and then pulled clear when a quick play-the-ball caught Wizards flat footed.

The visitors made the game safe with two late scores before a consolation try from Reddecliff in the final minute. Wizards: Graham Healey; Darren Forshaw, Stuart Pirrie, Shaun Gilmour, Adam Gorman; Billy Sheen, Warren Ayres; Scott Davidson, Craig Cornelia, Andy Forber, Matt Clarke, Lee Rushton, Alan Reddecliff. Subs: Hayden James, Troy Alison, Scott Cullen, Gareth Barron.
