WARRINGTON have lost a second potent strike weapon in the space of four days.

Stuart Reardon, one of the strongest kick return players in Super League, has left the club today, capping off a dramatic week at The Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The full back's departure follows hot on the heels of England centre Martin Gleeson going 'home' to sign up with Wolves' fierce rivals Wigan on Monday.

On the same day, Richie Mathers, currently recovering from a hernia operation, was released by Wigan and he immediately teamed up with Wolves.

The move for the former Leeds Rhinos full back added fuel to the weekend's speculation of the pending departure of Reardon, although Wolves have only confirmed the Reardon situation today.

Both Gleeson and Reardon have proven to be strong line breakers for Warrington and their departure leaves the coaching staff rooting for existing squad men to take up the baton.

It has been an unsettling start to the year for Wolves.

A poor start on the field cost Jimmy Lowes his job, stepping down from head coach to first-team coach in order to make way for new boss Tony Smith last month.

Five successive defeats equated to the club's worst ever start to a league campaign, although fortunes have turned around with three successive wins.
