WARRINGTON Wolves are among a number of Super League clubs currently locked in discussions with the Inland Revenue over the issue of image rights.
The offshore payments, often used to boost the salaries of overseas players, are perfectly legal but HM Revenue and Customs are looking to close what they see as a tax loophole.
Wolves chief executive Andy Gatcliffe says the club are in ongoing discussions regarding the issue but denied the club have already received a bill from the taxman.
“We have been keeping an eye on this for a while,” he said.
“Our union counterparts in the Premiership have already been in discussions with Revenue and Customs and now the RFL are negotiating on our behalf.
“We are one of a number of Super League clubs in discussions and we have sat down with players on an individual basis to discuss it and we are looking at solutions for them.”
