CROSFIELDS were held to a draw by their dogged visitors.
Crosfields were denied an early try when Matt Barber’s pass to Phil Bannion was adjudged to be forward.
But, minutes later, a long, flat pass from Jimmy Williams allowed Craig Noone to cross and Williams converted for a 6-0 lead.
Waterhead hit back when good combination between the backs saw Chris Charlesworth touch down, Patrick Slicker converting.
A deft offload from Ian Boden sent Matt Thomas over to restore the lead but Crosfields then switched off to let Slicker score straight from the restart.
Sean Garret’s conversion gave Waterhead a 12-10 lead until a Williams penalty levelled matters.
A Mark Wyatt try and Garrett conversion put Waterhead back in front after the break but Crosfields responded when Matty Barber fed Bannon to score on a classic two-on-one.
Williams’ conversion levelled the scores but he missed two late drop goals as Crosfields chased victory.
Crosfields are away to Hull Isberg on Saturday. The coach leaves at 11.15am.
