WARRINGTON Wizards are full of confidence ahead of Saturday’s home opener against last season’s Co-operative Rugby League Conference National minor premiers Bramley Buffaloes.

Alan Kilshaw’s side won 70-14 at Carlisle to kick off the new season on Sunday and will be hoping to continue that form in the Wilderspool clash, kick off 3.30pm.

Player/coach Kilshaw said: “I am really happy that we got off to a good start.

“It was always going to be a trip into the unknown with us having so many new faces in our line-up and we weren’t sure how we would gel.

“But, to be fair to every single one of the lads, they knuckled down early on and took the game by the scruff of the neck and never let go.

“Once we get to know each other better we will improve even more.

“I was very pleased with how we went about our business. Defensively we were very strong and this laid the platform for our attacking flair to blossom.

“I told them at half time that I wanted them to be ruthless and they did just that.”

Kilshaw added: “We will now knuckle down in training this week and get ourselves prepared mentally and physically for Bramley, which we know will be a very hard-fought encounter.

“We have played them plenty of times over the past few years and each game is always close, Saturday will be no different.

“We got through the game at Carlisle without picking up any new injuries, which was another bonus. We will have a few players back available this week and pushing for places in the side, so we are looking really healthy.”
