WARRINGTON Rylands face a second trip to Lincolnshire in the space of four days tonight – and they will be hoping this one is as fruitful as their last.

Having stunned Scunthorpe United in the FA Trophy on Saturday to make it five straight wins in all competitions, Blues turn their attention back to the Northern Premier League this evening as they visit Gainsborough Trinity.

And they will do so sensing an opportunity to move further clear of relegation trouble in the NPL Premier Division.

Rylands and their hosts are side-by-side in the table occupying the two spaces immediately above the drop zone, with the men from Gorsey Lane higher up by virtue of having scored more goals than the Holy Blues.

Victory tonight will see Rylands open up a three-point buffer between themselves and danger regardless of how Mickleover – the side beneath themselves and Gainsborough and in the final relegation place on goal difference – get on against table-topping Macclesfield this evening.

However, Gainsborough’s run to the FA Cup second round means they have played three fewer league games and like Reynolds’ men, Trinity in strong form.

Their only defeat in their past 11 games in all competitions has come at the hands of unbeaten league leaders Macclesfield, and that run has featured victories over higher-ranked sides such as Boston United, Darlington and Chester in cup competitions.
