A TRIO of Warrington Wolves stars from the past laced up their boots again for a historic, cross-code rugby match believed to be the first of its kind played on these shores.
Adrian Morley, Ben Westwood and Ryan Atkins were all part of "Team Rob Burrow" alongside several other league legends taking on a team of rugby union greats named in honour of Ed Slater, the former Leicester Tigers and Gloucester forward who like Burrow was diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
The match at Leeds Rhinos' Headingley ground - named the '745 Game' in honour of the squad numbers worn by Burrow, Slater and their fellow MND warrior Doddie Weir during their playing careers - was a hybrid game featuring elements of both league and union rules.
Morley, Westwood and Atkins were all in the starting side for Team Burrow, as was current Warrington head of player welfare Kylie Leuluai, as they ran out 33-21 victors in front of more than 10,000 fans, with all proceeds going towards MND causes.
