WARRINGTON RUFC turned round a 19-5 deficit to defeat Bolton 44-29 at home.

Three tries in the last frenetic 15 minutes of the game more than compensated for Warrington’s lethargic start but this will not be a game plan coaches or supporters would like to encourage.

It was at the 30th-minute mark that the visitors led by 12 points, Josh Downes having scored Warrington’s only try up to that point.

But a Will Morgan try was converted by JP Hudson, who added a penalty on the stroke of half-time to leave Warrington 19-15 behind.

Jamie Hartill chased down a Matt Beeley kick to put Warrington in front early in the second half, but Bolton responded with a bonus-point converted try and penalty for a 29-22 advantage and the hosts down to 14 men due to a yellow card.

With 15 minutes to go Kyle Cherrett received the ball from a quick short penalty and his trademark forceful running produced Warrington’s fourth try and putting them only two points adrift.

A penalty slotted by Hudson put Warrington in front and then a Cherrett-Luke Turner combination laid the foundation for a try by captain Danny Fleming, which Hudson converted for an eight-point cushion.

With two minutes to go some elusive side-stepping by Beeley opened the way for Morgan’s second try, converted by Hudson.
