WARRINGTON Rylands finally picked up their first home league win of the season on Saturday afternoon.
Their 3-0 victory over Basford United made it three wins at Gorsey Lane in the space of seven days in as many different competitions, having thrashed Skelmersdale United 10-1 in the Liverpool Senior Cup in midweek while Ossett United were beaten 4-0 in the FA Trophy last weekend.
Ben Hardcastle’s early penalty set Neil Reynolds’ side on their way at Gorsey Lane, with Harrison Hopper’s first goal for Blues doubling the advantage before the half-hour mark.
Ntumba Massanka then sealed the victory late on as Rylands lifted themselves out of the Northern Premier League Premier Division’s relegation places.
Goals continue to flow for Rylands
Having scored 14 goals across two cup victories against lower-ranked opposition, the test now for Blues was to see if they could pick on someone their own size.
That they did to finally get off the mark at home in the league at the eighth attempt to leave Reynolds a delighted man post-match.
"I thought we were outstanding from start to finish," he said.
"Basford came with a game plan, but I thought we blew it out of the water by going 2-0 up.
"There were some great goals from the team, but I’m just really happy that everything we’re working on in training and saying as a group is coming to fruition.
"I keep saying it, but they’re a great group that takes things on board and keeps trying to execute what we’re asking them to.
"We’ve talking about turning the place into a fortress and the fans were unbelievable.
"We need them every single week and if we can keep repaying them like we have done this week – by scoring four last week, 10 against Skem and three today – I’ll be happy.
"There will be blips along the way, but we’re certainly heading in the right direction."
