WARRINGTON Rylands face perhaps the toughest test their division can offer tomorrow.

Having secured their first league win under his management in midweek, however, boss Neil Reynolds insists his side can travel to Northern Premier League Premier Division leaders Macclesfield with no fear.

Tuesday’s 1-0 win at Leek Town saw Blues move off the foot of the table and to within a point of safety in the first of three consecutive away fixtures.

The next of them sees them visit an unbeaten Macc side who are currently four points clear at the summit under the management of former Wales international Robbie Savage, who had been the club’s director of football before stepping into the dugout in the summer.

However, Reynolds insists it is a challenge his side will attack having been buoyed by their return to the winners’ circle.

“They are immense – they are a really, really good side and Robbie has built an excellent squad – but we’re going there on the back of three points,” he said.

“We’ll respect them, but we won’t fear them.

“We know they’ve got a dressing room full of quality but so have we – we’ve got a talented bunch of lads in there so let’s go there with no fear.

“It’s about us now in everything that we do.”

Ben Hardcastle’s goal just after half time secured Tuesday’s win in Staffordshire, with goalkeeper Luke Pilling also saving a penalty in the game’s later stages.

That allowed them to keep just their third clean sheet in league matches this season, and another big part of that was defender Scott Holding, who was making his Rylands debut having joined from Macclesfield.

The former Watford man, who made 25 National League South appearances for Dover Athletic last season, will not be able to face his former side tomorrow due to a "gentleman's agreement" between the two clubs that helped push the deal through, but Reynolds expressed his gratitude to Savage regardless.

"He’s a good footballer looking at his background, pedigree and CV," he said.

"It’s not worked for him at Macclesfield, but he’s come here with a start and a clean sheet. He’s another positive addition to the squad.

"Robbie’s a good mate of mine and we speak pretty much every day. I’ve got to thank him for getting the deal for Scott done.

"He pushed it – he knew I needed a defender in so he worked hard for it when he didn’t have to.

"I want to thank him and Macclesfield for that, as well as Tony Bennett our secretary for doing what he does.

"We know we’ve got a gentleman’s agreement with Macc with regards to Saturday for him, but I needed favours."

Rylands will assess the fitness of another defender in Matt Regan, who was substituted during the first half at Leek on Tuesday with an hamstring niggle.
