WARRINGTON’S first visit to Littleborough in decades provided a 27-27 draw which, barring red cards, had everything.

Tries galore, a smattering of yellow cards, some bizarre refereeing decisions, uncontested scrums, great offloads and a nail-biting finish which Hollywood could not have bettered.

As the referee called last play with Warrington trailing 27-20, Littleborough tried to kick the ball out of play.

Newcomer Ryan Newton saved the day by catching the low trajectory ball 40 metres out and headed for the Littleborough line.

Stand-off JP Hudson took the ball on, jinked through two defenders, threaded a grubber kick into the in-goal area and won the race to the touch down.

He also added the extras with the final kick of the game.

A few mistakes cost Warrington dearly throughout the game and they struggled to maintain continuity of possession, but steely resolution in defence against a well-drilled, cohesive side earned their well-deserved draw.

Tom McNiff crossed for two of Warrington’s tries, with Harry Kellett grabbing the other.
