LYMM made it five wins from five as their spectacular table-topping start to the season continued against Harrogate.
A 57-24 home success, achieving for them a fifth try-scoring bonus point too, leaves Lymm as the National League 2 North highest scorers so far this term, with a long trip to 12th-placed Tynedale to follow this Saturday.
Lymm never trailed against Harrogate and were ahead from the 10th minute, turning around 26-14 in front despite the affects of a strong wind in their faces.
They dominated the second half, assisted by two scores in the opening five minutes, but conceded two late tries.
Head coach Andy Davies said: “It was tough playing into the wind in the first half, so it was nice to go in at half-time with a lead especially after Harrogate had played some nice stuff and put us under a lot of pressure.
“The boys composed themselves and came out firing in the second half. There were some lovely tries scored but, again, the defensive display put on by the team was immense.”
The success was achieved despite numerous changes to the previous week’s side.
Ralph McEachran returned from Sale Sharks duty at loose head; Pitcher made his first start of the season at hooker; Liverpool John Moores University product Ethan Kermode made his first start in the second row and teenage loanee Toby Wilson started at inside centre, with Sam Wadsworth moving to full-back and captain Nathan Beesley to his customary wing position.
Beesley crossed for two tries, with others coming from McEachran, Pitcher, Wadsworth, Paddy Jennings, Cal Morris, Harry Martin and Ben Thompson, while Tom Shard kicked six conversions.
Lymm (1-15): Ralph McEachran, James Pitcher, Matty Hand, Ethan Kermode, Ben Thompson, Harry Martin, Josh Hadland, Oli Higginson, Cal Morris, Tom Shard, Paddy Jennings, Ste Pilkington, Toby Wilson, Nathan Beesley, Sam Wadsworth. Replacements: Ben Lilley, Rob Makin, Dan Hunter, Tom Manaton, Jack Stride.
