DANNY Walker has given an update of sorts on his Warrington Wolves future.

While he insists his commitment to his hometown club remains unchanged, he admits the opportunity to test himself in the NRL is something he would find difficult to turn down.

Canberra Raiders are said to be keen to take the hooker, who has been named in the Super League Dream Team for the first time this year, Down Under and are believed to have had a six-figure bid for his services turned down.

Walker is contracted to The Wire for another two seasons after this and when asked about where he stood on his future, he remained keen to play his cards close to his chest.

“I’ve not really got any updates,” he said.

“I’m contracted at the end of the day but if you ask any player, if you get the opportunity to go over to the NRL, it’s something you have to listen to and I’m no different. I’m not going to stand here and lie about it.

“I love playing for Warrington and I hope everybody knows how much I love that, but you have to listen to opportunities like this.

“We’ll see what happens because right now, I genuinely don’t know what’s going on with it.”

If he has been distracted at all by the speculation surrounding his future, it has not shown on the pitch having been named as this year’s stand-out player in his position.

As such, he insists putting the talk to the back of his mind has been easy.

“It’s white noise for me,” he said.

“I know what the craic is because I’m involved in it but at the end of the day, it's the rugby that pays your wages and your mortgage.

“If you don’t get that right, you don’t get opportunities come up.

“No matter what, I’m playing for my hometown club and I’ll give everything for them, week in week out.”
