MARK Beesley’s departure brings about the end of an era for Warrington Town Football Club.

This afternoon, the club confirmed it has accepted their manager’s resignation, bringing to an end a near three-year spell in charge for Beesley.

In that time, he guided the club to promotion to the National League North – their highest ever level – and a top-half finish in their first season in the division.

However, he leaves with the team having endured a difficult start to the 2024-25 campaign having won just two of their opening nine games in all competitions.

Saturday’s FA Cup second qualifying round defeat to Radcliffe was Beesley’s 139th and final game in charge having been appointed as successor to Paul Carden – under whom he had served as assistant manager for five years – in November 2021 following Carden’s departure to join AFC Telford United.

Those 139 games – the first of which was a 1-1 FA Trophy draw with Morpeth Town on November 27, 2021, that ended in a penalty shoot-out defeat – yielded 59 wins, giving him a win percentage of 42.4 per cent.

His tenure also included 44 defeats and 36 draws.

Five players were in both the first and last Warrington Town teams picked by Beesley – goalkeeper Dan Atherton and midfielders Jay Harris, Bohan Dixon, Matty McDonald and Matt Grivosti.
