MARK Duffy believes Warrington Rylands’ display in their draw at Workington on Saturday afternoon was “probably their best of the season.”

Blues came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw at Borough Park, with Ntumba Massanka netting the leveller just after the hour mark.

The striker beat the offside trap to race onto James Neild’s cushioned long pass and coolly beat the home keeper one-on-one as Rylands bounced back from conceding the opener just after half time.

The visitors failed to deal with an inswinging corner from the left, and the ball reached the far post for Steven Swinglehurst to prod home and put the Cumbrians ahead.

However, Duffy hailed his players’ display and believes more of the same will soon see their results start to pick up.

“It was a really, really good performance – probably our best of the season, if I’m honest,” he said.

“We competed really well at a tough place and ultimately, we had all of the best chances.

“They scored off a set piece, which is disappointing, but we probably had four or five really good chances.

“That’s the only thing we can say to the players – to continue to do the right things and move the ball into the right areas. It will turn and those chances will end up going in.”

The result allowed Rylands to climb to 18th in the Northern Premier League table ahead of FC United of Manchester's visit to Gorsey Lane on Tuesday, when Duffy's side will be looking for their first home league win of the season.

“They’re a decent team – the manager is really experienced at the level,” Duffy said of Tuesday’s opponents.

“We’ll go into the game with confidence from Saturday because it was a tough place to go, and Workington will be much the happier team because we had by far the better chances.”
