GEORGE Williams has moved to allay any injury concerns surrounding him, insisting he will be “fighting fit” for Magic Weekend.
Warrington Wolves’ star half-back was a surprise absentee from the team that faced London Broncos on Sunday, with Sam Powell slotting into the halves alongside Josh Drinkwater in his place.
The Wire got the job done without the England captain, picking up a 36-22 victory and after the game, head coach Sam Burgess moved to play down concerns that Williams could be due for an extended absence.
That was echoed by Williams himself, who declared himself fit to face Leeds Rhinos at Elland Road on Saturday night.
“I’ve got no worries at all. I missed yesterday’s game but I’ll be fighting fit and ready to go for this weekend,” he said.
“After three or four games, you’ve always got little niggles and they tend to change as to what they might be.
“Luckily, it’s something that’s only a slight niggle and won’t hold me back.
“I got a rest and four or five others did as well, so it’ll do us good.”
