WARRINGTON Wolves’ trip to London Broncos on Sunday will be among the first matches shown on Sky Sports’ new home of rugby league.

From Thursday, the viewing of Super League matches on Sky Sports will change with the launch of the new Sky Sports + channel.

So how does it work? Here’s an explainer of what we know so far…

Do I need to pay for it?

Holders of a Sky Sports subscription will see Sky Sports + added to their channel list without the need for further action and at no extra cost.

The Sky Sports + main channel will essentially replace the current Sky Sports Arena channel (Sky channel 412, Sky Glass channel 410 and Virgin Media channel 508).

How does it work?

As has been happening every week in 2024, Sky Sports will continue to broadcast two ‘exclusive pick’ matches every week, which feature extended coverage on the main TV channels.

These matches – this week’s are St Helens vs Salford on Thursday and Leeds vs Wigan on Saturday – will continue to be broadcast on either Sky Sports +, Sky Sports Action or Sky Sports Mix.

The remaining four fixtures of every weekly round will be shown via streams accessed via the Red Button on the Sky Sports + channel.

London vs Warrington is one of those fixtures this week along with Huddersfield vs Catalans, Hull KR vs Castleford and Leigh vs Hull FC.

Customers who watch Sky Sports via NOW TV will be able to view all Sky Sports + content, but the new channel will not be available on the Sky Go App.

In order to watch matches on your phone or tablet, you will need to use your Sky Go log-in on the main Sky Sports App.

How many Warrington matches will be on Sky Sports +?

At this stage, we don’t know as Sky have only confirmed their exclusive picks up to and including Round 23, when The Wire travel to Castleford Tigers on Friday, August 23.

That match will be on Sky Sports + via the Red Button having not been chosen as an exclusive pick.

Before then, it is Magic Weekend and all six fixtures to be played at Elland Road including Wire’s clash with Leeds Rhinos are to be shown on Sky Sports Action.
