WARRINGTON Wolves’ win at Wigan Warriors on Friday night will live long in the memory of Wire fans regardless of what happens in the months ahead.

However, the manner of it means it will be permanently etched into the record books.

Rodrick Tai’s try on the final hooter and Josh Thewlis’ conversion nudged the final scoreline out to 40-4, making it Wire’s biggest ever margin of victory in matches against Wigan.

The 36 points that were between the sides beats the previous best of 30, which came courtesy of a 40-10 victory at The Halliwell Jones Stadium back in April 2016.

It also just the fifth time Warrington have hit the 40-point barrier in games against the Warriors, with the last occasion being their most recent win on their neighbours’ ground before last night – a 40-14 triumph in June 2021.

Then as well as the aforementioned 2016 victory, there was a 43-24 Super League victory at The Halliwell Jones Stadium in August 2007 and a riotous 47-38 triumph at Wilderspool in June 2001.
