IT'S official - Warrington Wolves are heading for Las Vegas next year.

The Wire will be involved in the first ever Super League match to take place on the American continent in 2025, with a clash with neighbours Wigan Warriors having been confirmed

An official announcement of the game, which is tied in with the return of an NRL double-header to Vegas following a successful launch this year, was made on Tuesday morning.

Here is everything we know so far…

When is it?

The match will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025 along with the three others taking place in Sin City that day.

That brings the date into line with this year's NRL Vegas double-header, which took place on March 2.

Which teams are involved?

Warrington and Wigan have been invited to showcase Super League in Sin City, while there will also be an international Test match between the England and Australia women’s teams as the curtain-raiser fixture.

That raises the possibility of Warringtonians Jodie Cunningham, Emily Rudge and Tara Jones – all key parts of the England side – being part of the Vegas weekend.

Defending NRL champions Penrith Panthers are also set for action as are Canberra Raiders, New Zealand Warriors and Cronulla Sharks.

While this will be the opening round of the NRL season, Warrington and Wigan will have already played at least one competitive game after it was confirmed Super League sides will enter the Challenge Cup at the third-round stage over the weekend of February 8-9.

It is understood the Vegas game will form part of Round Three of Super League 2025, while the World Club Challenge is also set to take place over the previous weekend (February 22-23).

All four matches are set to take place on the same day, with the Super League fixture designated as a Wigan home match.

Where is it?

The state-of-the-art Allegiant Stadium hosted this year’s NRL double header with more than 40,000 supporters in attendance and will do so again.

Opened in 2020 at a cost of $1.9billion, the home of NFL side Las Vegas Raiders has a capacity of 65,000 supporters and hosted this year’s Superbowl.

Will it be Wire’s first time in America?

The game would be the first time Warrington have played a competitive fixture outside of Europe, but their rivalry with Wigan does have previous in America.

A certain generation of fans will remember the Great American Challenge between the two rivals, with Wigan winning 12-5 in an exhibition match played at the County Stadium in Milwaukee in June 1989.

Warrington have also played in Australia, beating South Sydney Rabbitohs 34-28 in a friendly match at Redfern Oval in January 2012.

Wigan played in the only previous Super League match to take place outside of Europe, beating Hull FC 24-10 in Wollongong, Australia, in February 2018.

In March, Las Vegas will sit within the Pacific Standard time zone, which is eight hours behind the UK.

Wigan vs Warrington will be the first of the four games to take place on the day and will kick off at 1.30pm local time, which will be 9.30pm UK time.

The NRL clash between Canberra Raiders and New Zealand Warriors will follow at 4pm local time, with the Australia vs England women's Test at 6pm (midnight and 2am UK time).
