HOLLYWOOD star Russell Crowe is in Warrington this week – so can we expect him to take in Warrington Wolves’ clash with Huddersfield Giants on Friday?
That was initially thought to be the plan, with the Australian actor in town for a musical performance at Parr Hall tomorrow night with his band the Gentleman Barbers as part of his “Indoor Garden Party” tour.
In the crowd will be Wire head coach Sam Burgess – a longtime friend of the “Gladiator” star’s after Crowe signed him as a 21-year-old prospect in his capacity as co-owner of NRL giants South Sydney Rabbitohs.
However, Burgess admits scheduling issues may make returning the favour difficult with Crowe due in France early on Saturday to continue the tour.
“I’ll be going on Thursday night – he tells me it’s 95 per cent sold out,” Burgess said.
“I don’t know if he’s coming to the game – he tells me he’s got a flight to Paris the next day.
“He needs to be in Paris on Saturday morning so if we’re playing at 8 o’clock on Friday, it’s difficult.
“He might be there – I know what he’s like so he’ll find a way to get it done.
“We’re catching up for a bit of dinner this week then I’ll be going watching his band at Parr Hall.”
