FINALLY, Warrington Wolves can officially turn their attention to Wembley and the Challenge Cup Final.

Anyone who has experienced the lead-up to such a game will tell you it is a week like no other and now, the Wire squad are ready to attack it.

With the vast majority of their first-team stars kept in reserve for Saturday’s Super League game against Wembley opponents Wigan Warriors, head coach Sam Burgess says much more work can be done without needing to account for recovery.

However, he insists things will be kept as normal as possible.

“Why change? It’s just another game,” the Wire boss said.

“It’s exciting – it’s our first final for a while so the boys and the club are excited.

“I’ve just got to manage our training to make sure we get everything we need out of the week.

“The good thing is we’ll be able to get a couple of good sessions in because we rested the players.

“We’ll get a bit of work done and taper off towards the back end.

“They’re ready to play. They’ll be excited for the week, which is good.”

How Warrington’s ‘Wembley Week’ looks

The team will hold training sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday before heading to London on Thursday morning.

Supporters will be able to see the team off as they leave The Halliwell Jones Stadium – any fans coming to the send-off are encouraged to be at Gate A in the north west corner of the ground by 10am.

Both Wire and Wigan will be allowed access to Wembley Stadium on Thursday afternoon for a “walkabout” in a change to what has become tradition.

Usually, the teams hold their final “team run” training session at Wembley the day before the cup final but this year, that will not be possible due to the stadium hosting a football international between England and Iceland on Friday evening.

As such, Warrington will hold their final training session at their north London hotel, which is equipped with a rugby field as part of its sporting facilities, on Friday morning.

Also on Friday morning is the traditional Service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in central London, where representatives from all six clubs taking part in Finals Day will be present.
